I very much enjoy the study of History. I love it. Not for any academic requirement or gain, but just because.

World history I have studied over the years for pleasure. I also believe it should be a gentleman’s duty to learn and absorb such. 

It’s a perfect means to gain perspective. And while I do just that, I much prefer the study of local history. The history of the state I reside in, New Jersey, is fascinating for me.

Your Mission Is To Live, Not Exist

If you ever want to get anywhere, you better do (or not do) this.

Did you ever hear that growing up? Did your parents ever say that? A teacher in high school? A college professor? A close friend?

I was thinking about this while reading a blog post by fellow MG cohost Rob about how the internet never forgets. One of the takeaways is watch what you say or do online, lest you lose your job or have trouble finding one in the future.

Just Because You Can, Doesn’t Necessarily Mean You Should

Staying on the theme of authenticity and integrity, here’s more of my thoughts…

The other day, my mind got to wandering like it tends to do, and I got to thinking about a prior job of mine. Now mind you, I haven’t thought about this job in years. It was an okay job, as far as jobs went. The pay was decent, the co-workers were okay as well, and the general working conditions were fine. But there was one thing that was a thorn in my side about this particular job:

Integrity And Association

TJ wrote a great piece the other day, and it got me thinking. So I’m going to give my .02 on a similar subject in the same vein.

I went over to my Father’s house the other day, it was and still is, a part of my ritual with him. I go over to check on him, see how he’s been doing, make sure he’s okay, and do some catching up. It’s good for the both of us really.

No Free Lunch

I was at a car show with my Dad and his buddies the other day. It was great to get out of the house and get away from everything that has been going on in my life, even if it was just for a few hours. It was great to be able to sit down, soak in the sun, drink a few beers, crack a shit ton of jokes, and listen and tell stories.
